Bentwood and the aroma of coffee......

Thonet Bentwood Coat Stand

So useful in the home or office.

It was Thonet who pioneered the technique of bending wood into curved shapes using steam. A design which is still being manufactured today along with the popular café/bistro chair which is a classic of Thonet’s designs and is one of the world’s most successful commercial products..The coat and hat stand was originally created by Michael Thonet (1796-1871) and first introduced into the Viennese café society in the 19th Century........ummm just smell that aroma of coffee at the cafe when hanging up your coat! I'm off to the lovely city of Hereford now....

Foxy Lady Antiques and Interiors Posted by Foxy Lady Antiques and Interiors

A passion for antiques began as a young girl attending antiques auctions and Country house sales with my mother buying wonderful, timeless, elegant, faded and jaded pieces for our home. My interest blossomed over the years and a hobby turned into a full time working obsession where I gained invaluable experience managing a large reputable Antiques Centre in the Cotswolds selling to the general public and shipping trade on behalf of furniture and cabinet dealers.
