Huntley and palmers was founded in 1822 by Joseph Huntley who was a small biscuit maker and confectioner in London.

He started to sell biscuits to travellers on the coaches but because the biscuits were vulnerable to breakage he started putting them in metal tins.

Here we have a lovely 'collectable' example with the appearance of a purse or carry bag with a handle, beautifully designed as a simulated straw biscuit tin.

Circa 1910.

Overall in good condition with wear to the handle.
