Quality 19th Century Rosewood Bonheur De Jour Ladies writing Desk or writing table.
Originally introduced in Paris in the 18th Century this type of ladies desk became intensely fashionable as it was very light and graceful which meant it could easily be transported and moved about the room.
This gorgeous example is full of elegance. The brass gallery sits proudly above a shaped top with 'bombe' shaped fall front beautifully inlaid adding decorative charm. Shaped apron frontage and slim cabriole legs highlighted with ormolu mounts make this a truly attractive piece.
The fall front opens to reveal three neat little drawers and a finger well to drawer back a slider where you can store paperwork.....or a letter to your 'loved one'?
Overall in lovely condition.
